IGOR MUCALO A MEMBER OF THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE OF 7TH COMPETITION LAW AND POLICY CONFERENCE IN MEMORY OF PROF. VEDRAN ŠOLJAN
Our Igor Mucalo was one of the members of the organizing committee of the 7th Competition law and policy conference in memory of Prof. Vedran Šoljan, titled “New developments and (old) enforcement challenges: are we ready for the new era?”, which took place in Opatija on 12-13 May 2022.
This conference is traditionally held in memory of the late Professor Vedran Šoljan (1962-2008), one of Croatia’s pioneers in the field of competition law and offers a platform for discussion about recent antitrust developments, with a particular focus on Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and South-East Europe (SEE).
This year’s conference was organized by the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics and Business (EFZG), Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK)/ICC Croatia-Competition Commission, Croatian Association of Competition Law and Policy (HDPPTN) and ASCOLA SEE Chapter & ASCOLA CE Chapter.
This year’s topics includes e-commerce and vertical restraints, reform of horizontal guidelines, the Digital Markets Act and e-platforms, right of defence and competition law, challenges to competition law enforcement in CEE and SEE countries, and a panel on recent competition law developments in the CEE/SEE region.
Igor also participated in the conference as the moderator on the panel titled “Right of defence in competition law”, and he is particularly proud to be one of the lecturers in the half-day parallel program “COMPETITION COMPLIANCE TRAINING – BRUSHING UP ON YOUR DO’S AND DON’TS”, where Mario Krka, Mislav Bradvica and he refreshed the participants’ knowledge on the basic concepts and rules of the EU and Croatian Competition Act (including the abuse of dominance, cartels and other restrictive agreements, merger clearance, enforcement procedures, etc.).
Igor particularly thanks the organizers and his colleagues from the organizing committee Dunja Šimunić Mehdin and Jasminka Pecotić Kaufman for excellent cooperation in pulling this off.
