PARTICIPATION IN THE “MEET TO COMPETE – REPEAT” CONFERENCE IN OPATIJA
Mucalo Law Office participated in the international conference “Meet to Compete – Repeat: Competition Law and Policy Conference”, held on 14 and 15 May 2026 in Opatija, organized by ICC Croatia and the Croatian Chamber of Economy.
Once again, this year, the conference brought together distinguished representatives from European institutions, regulatory authorities, law firms, companies, and academia to discuss current issues in competition law and policy in the context of rapid regulatory and technological developments.
As part of the conference program, Igor Mucalo moderated the panel “Tales from both sides of the trenches – Litigating before the Commission and EU Courts”, dedicated to experiences in conducting proceedings before the European Commission and the courts of the European Union. The panel featured Alfonso Lamadrid de Pablo, partner at Latham & Watkins; Boris Andrejaš from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition (DG Competition); Alfredos Theodorakopoulos, Legal Secretary at the Court of Justice of the European Union; and Georgios Gryllos, partner at White & Case LLP.
On the second day of the conference, Igor Mucalo delivered the workshop “Good morning from AZTN? First aid for dawn raid!”, focused on the practical challenges of dealing with unannounced inspections by regulatory authorities. The workshop covered key steps in preparing for and responding to dawn raid procedures, providing practical guidance for businesses, in-house counsel, and management teams.
The “Meet to Compete – Repeat” conference once again confirmed the importance of regional and international cooperation in the field of competition law and provided a platform for exchanging experiences regarding future regulatory challenges and the development of European competition law practice.
